Runswick Bay

Where to stay? What to do?

Runswick Bay’s main attraction for visitors is its picturesque scenery and beautiful sweeping hillside location. The area is hugely popular with artists and holidaymakers alike; a true gem in Yorkshire’s crown. You will enjoy the view of red-roofed cottages scattered down the hillside and sheltered from the northern gales by ‘Lingrow Knowle’ high above. At the bottom is the soft, sandy beach which is perfectly safe for children to play on. The beach can be accessed via very steep road down to the bay, with car parking available at the bottom.

Several bed and breakfasts operate in the area, as well as a few holiday cottages which are available to rent if you prefer self catering. In the village you will find tea rooms serving homemade cakes and a pub serving home cooked food and welcoming drinks. Runswick Bay is just off the A174, 9 miles northwest of Whitby.
